Call for Board Members
Canlead is seeking two dynamic members to join our 2024-2025 board of directors. Successful candidates will bring a wide range of skills and expertise to the organization. Current recruitment will emphasize the following categories of experience:
Experience in the Not-for-profit sector
Experience delivering services to not-for-profits
Knowledge and experience of other Canadian not-for-profit sectors i.e. healthcare, faith-based organizations, woodlot and forestry management, tourism, rural economic development
Strong industry networks and connections

Canlead board positions are filled by election. To be eligible for the election, interested candidates are required to email a letter, highlighting their competencies for and relevant experience, to info@canleadsolutions.ca before noon (EST) on September 28, 2024. The election will take place at the Canlead Annual General Meeting on Thursday, November 18, 2024. Successful candidates will be notified by the end of November.

Canlead Board Summary
Directors of the Canlead Solutions board are elected by the Canlead membership. Elected director terms are two years in length. Directors may serve on the Canlead board of directors for a maximum of 10 years. Directors support the work of Canlead and provide values-based leadership and strategic governance. While the day-to-day operations are led by the Canlead CEO, the board/CEO relationship is a partnership. The board members report to the Canlead Solutions Chair.

Board Member Responsibilities
Actively participate in board meetings (approximately five, half-day board meetings per year and six 1-hour update meetings; the majority of meetings will be held virtually)
Participate in the governance of Canlead through a broad set of policies developed by the board
Participate in the development of long and short-term goals, objectives and priorities for Canlead
Participate in the approval of Canlead’s annual budget, financial reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
Prepare for board meetings
Be aware of and abstain from conflict of interest
Maintain confidentiality in performing the duties of a director of the board
Serve on committees and takes on special assignments, as required
Board Member Requirements
At least eighteen (18) years of age
Be a Canadian resident
Not an undischarged bankrupt, nor a mentally incompetent person
Sign the corporation's Code of Conduct for Directors and Consent to Act as a Director
Access to a personal computer, reliable internet, and email
The ability to travel within Ontario
